LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, in her message on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, said the entire Pakistani nation pays tribute to the unwavering struggle and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.
She said Pakistan stands firmly with its Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just cause and will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support at every level.
Referring to August 5, 2019, Azma Bokhari said India unilaterally revoked the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A of its Constitution, a move she said deprived the territory of its constitutional identity.
The provincial minister alleged that the Modi government had altered the secular character of India’s Constitution and added that many prominent intellectuals and influential voices within India continue to oppose the decision.
She further said that despite years of force and repression, India has failed to weaken the determination of the Kashmiri people. According to Azma Bokhari, India’s claim of being the world’s largest democracy has increasingly come under question due to what she described as authoritarian policies.
Azma Bokhari reiterated that Pakistan would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at every available forum and maintain its support for the Kashmiri people. She added that the freedom of Kashmir remains a key priority in the manifesto of Mian Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Muslim League (N).
