More than Rs2.4 million released for medical treatment of police personnel

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has reaffirmed his commitment to the health and welfare of Punjab Police personnel and their families, with more than Rs2.4 million released for medical treatment under the department’s welfare initiatives.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Rs500,000 has been released for the cancer treatment of retired DSP Noor Muhammad, while Barber Muhammad Asghar has been provided Rs250,000 for his wife’s minor surgery.
Similarly, Rs200,000 has been released for the treatment of a heart ailment suffered by the widow of late Inspector Abdul Rasheed.
The spokesperson said that Sub-Inspectors Syed Hassan Raza and Javeed Iqbal, and ASI Naeem Ullah have each been provided Rs100,000 for medical treatment.
Constables Bilal Hassan, Farooq Ali and Muhammad Ahmad, along with Lady Constable Phool Shahzadi, have also each received Rs100,000 towards their medical expenses.
In addition, ASIs Ghulam Abbas and Ilyas Ali, and Assistant Irfan Ahmad have been provided a combined amount of Rs310,000 for medical treatment. Constables Muhammad Amir, Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Hussain have received a combined Rs285,000.
Naib Qasids Muhammad Waqas and Akmal Shahzad, along with Washerman Sarwar Khata, have been provided a combined amount of Rs185,000 for medical treatment.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem approved the release of the funds following scrutiny and recommendations by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee.
Abdul Kareem said that the welfare of police personnel and their families, who remain engaged in protecting the lives and property of citizens, is a top priority.
He further said that under Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with various institutions, Punjab Police is also providing quality medical facilities to its personnel and their families.
The IG Punjab reiterated that welfare measures would continue to support police personnel and their families during times of medical need.
