LAHORE: Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab and Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Maryam Nawaz, the monthly “Khuli Kachehri” of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab was held in Lahore as part of the Public Outreach Campaign to address issues faced by overseas Pakistanis.
The session was jointly chaired by Vice Chairperson Barrister Amjad Malik and Commissioner Ms. Saman Rai. Officials present included DG OPC Ahmer Nike, Director Admin Amir Ahmad Khan, Director Police Imtiaz Ahmad, and Director Revenue Muhammad Shoaib Niswana.
Pakistanis residing in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Turkiye, and other countries raised complaints regarding land disputes, inheritance matters, bureaucratic hurdles, and various administrative issues.
Commissioner Saman Rai briefed attendees on ongoing reforms, including the establishment of a Special Complaints Cell, appointment of District Focal Officers, and creation of Overseas Special Courts.
Vice Chairperson Barrister Amjad Malik listened to the complaints and directed relevant officers to take immediate and transparent action. He emphasized that overseas Pakistanis are “true ambassadors and valuable assets” of the nation, and resolving their issues remains a top priority of the Punjab government.
Participants praised the establishment of Overseas Special Courts as a historic step and appreciated the government’s efforts. Barrister Amjad Malik thanked the cabinet for approving judges for the Special Courts and lauded Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for fulfilling her promise to overseas Pakistanis. He also highlighted that open courts, video-link conferences, advisory councils, and e-systems are ensuring swift and direct redressal of complaints.
The next Open Court of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab will be held in the last week of December in Lahore, where complaints from overseas Pakistanis worldwide will be heard and practical solutions implemented.
