LAHORE: In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the implementation of public welfare initiatives across the province is being accelerated.
A key meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Sohail Shaukat Butt. Secretary Social Welfare Saira Umar and Director General Social Welfare Dr. Shehnshah Faisal Azeem also attended the session.
The meeting reviewed ongoing projects of the Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Department, institutional performance, and measures aimed at further enhancing public welfare initiatives. Officials were directed to expand the scope of existing programs to ensure maximum outreach to deserving segments of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Shaukat Butt stated that providing relief to vulnerable and underprivileged groups remains the government’s top priority. He highlighted that approximately 100,000 persons with disabilities have so far been issued Himmat Cards.
He further shared that the target of the “Dhee Rani” program had been achieved before Ramadan, with around 8,000 deserving daughters settled in their homes under the initiative.
The minister also informed that 17,000 assistive devices and prosthetics have been distributed among deserving individuals, with efforts underway to further expand these services.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, welfare programs for persons with disabilities and marginalized communities will be further strengthened, while institutional performance will be improved to enhance public service delivery across the province.
