LONDON: Federal Minister for the Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, has said that Pakistan is rapidly emerging as a promising global investment hub, offering diverse opportunities across multiple sectors.
He made these remarks while addressing a distinguished gathering of UK-based Pakistani-British lawyers, business leaders, and community representatives in London, where he was invited as the Guest of Honour.
The event brought together prominent members of the legal fraternity, business associations, philanthropists, and civic leaders, highlighting the growing role of the diaspora in strengthening Pakistan’s global economic engagement.
In his address, the minister underscored the historic significance of the legal community in Pakistan, recalling that Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of the nation, was himself a distinguished lawyer who studied at Lincoln’s Inn before leading the independence movement.
He praised the contributions of British-Pakistani professionals and emphasized their responsibility to represent Pakistan’s interests on international platforms while promoting its positive image abroad.
Highlighting economic prospects, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said Pakistan’s strategic geographic location and investor-friendly policies have created a conducive environment for foreign investment. He identified key sectors including agriculture, information technology, textiles, real estate, industry, oil and gas, and mineral exploration as areas with strong potential for sustainable returns.
He encouraged the Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom to actively invest and play a leading role in enhancing economic collaboration between the two countries. The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating investors through streamlined procedures, incentives, and supportive policies.
Referring to Pakistan’s international standing, he noted that the country continues to strengthen its global image through resilience and constructive engagement. He acknowledged the leadership of Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in promoting regional stability and peace efforts.
The minister also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic role in easing international tensions and reinforcing its position as a peace-oriented nation committed to cooperation and harmony.
Paying tribute to overseas Pakistanis, he said their contributions—particularly through remittances—remain vital to the country’s economic stability.
The event concluded with strong expressions of support from British-Pakistani business leaders and legal professionals, who reaffirmed their commitment to promoting Pakistan’s economic growth and global image.
