LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali has said that the use of technology by students to develop creative projects on commercial grounds is highly commendable and impressive.
He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a thesis exhibition organized by the Department of Graphic Design at Punjab University’s College of Art and Design.
The event was attended by Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Mehboob Hussain, Principal College of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Samina Naseem, Chairman Department of Graphic Design Dr. Ahmad Bilal, faculty members, and a large number of students.
The exhibition featured 30 projects developed by MFA students, highlighting innovative ideas aimed at promoting local brands through modern graphic design techniques. Students also presented projects focusing on social awareness campaigns addressing various societal issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali said that many of the projects reflected a strong sense of social responsibility, particularly campaigns related to environmental changes and public awareness. He noted that several student-designed projects had already been purchased by companies, demonstrating the professional quality and market potential of the students’ work.
The Vice Chancellor further said that the College of Art and Design is offering highly professional degree programs, adding that nearly 100 percent of graduates secure employment after completing their studies.
Chairman Department of Graphic Design Dr. Ahmad Bilal said that the students had completed a long and challenging academic journey to reach the stage of presenting their final theses. He remarked that the diversity and depth of the topics chosen by students reflected the department’s academic strength and creative vision.
He added that the exhibition not only marked the successful completion of degree programs but also opened new avenues for the department’s future growth. According to Dr. Ahmad Bilal, the department plans to introduce specialized programs in Game Design and Film & VFX in line with evolving global industry trends and to further expand its curriculum to meet modern creative and technological demands.
