LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is committed to providing basic amenities and healthcare facilities to the people as one of its foremost priorities.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held on the occasion of the inauguration of the Dr. Sikandar Hayat Dialysis Centre at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hassan Abdal. The people of Hassan Abdal accorded the Governor a warm welcome on his arrival.
The Governor said the establishment of the dialysis centre would provide essential treatment facilities to kidney patients at the local level and was an important step toward improving healthcare services in the area.
He said the facility would enable residents of Hassan Abdal to receive dialysis services closer to their homes instead of travelling to Islamabad and Rawalpindi for treatment. He termed the establishment of the centre a longstanding need and demand of the local population.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said the provision of basic and medical facilities to the people remained among the top priorities of the PPP. He assured that all possible steps would be taken to provide essential public services, particularly healthcare, to people in their nearby areas.
The Governor said dialysis centres in Pindi Gheb and Fateh Jang were functioning effectively. He added that a thalassemia centre and blood bank were also operational in Fateh Jang.
He further said the government was taking measures to ensure that people could access public healthcare facilities close to their homes. A dispensary has also been established in Dharnal with assistance from China, he added.
The Governor expressed hope that several development projects would be launched in Attock and its adjoining areas to improve public services and infrastructure.
He said a number of public welfare projects were being completed with personal contributions and the support of philanthropists, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in expanding healthcare and other basic facilities.
PPP Rawalpindi President Sardar Ashar Hayat Khan, PPP leader Sardar Zulfiqar Hayat Khan, senior party leader Haji Sheikh Amin and other party leaders attended the inauguration ceremony. Other speakers also addressed the gathering.
