Washington, October 2: US President Donald Trump reportedly consulted Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok about the possible public reaction in Venezuela nearly a month before US forces captured former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
According to a report by Time magazine, Trump spent several hours questioning Grok during a private meeting with Musk at the White House in December 2025. His questions reportedly covered his presidency, political legacy and Venezuela.
An American official cited by the magazine said Trump asked how Venezuelans would react if the US military captured Maduro. Grok reportedly described Maduro as a “repressive and deeply unpopular” leader and predicted that many Venezuelans would celebrate his removal.
The report, however, said there was no clear evidence that Grok’s response directly influenced Trump’s decision to authorize military action. US forces later captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in Caracas during Operation Absolute Resolve and transferred them to the United States. The operation followed months of planning and lasted approximately two and a half hours.
Trump was reportedly impressed after celebrations took place in Venezuela following Maduro’s capture. It remains unclear how much influence Grok’s answers had on the US president’s final decision.
