KARACHI, August 24, 2026: Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has said that Sindh cannot be divided while President Asif Ali Zardari remains in office, ARY News reported.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Nasir Hussain Shah said the Sindh government was legislating to further empower the local government system.
He questioned how Islamabad, which does not have a local government system, could create new provinces.
Nasir Shah said nothing was more important to the PPP than Sindh and the party could sacrifice any position to keep Sindh united and together.
He said the PPP chairman, co-chairman and Sindh chief minister, along with other constitutional office-holders, were from Sindh. The PPP always spoke about Sindh first, he added.
A few days ago, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon had said the MQM was responsible for Karachi’s challenges. He had also said Mustafa Kamal used to respond with “ji bhai, ji bhai” to provocative speeches by MQM founder Altaf Hussain.
Sharjeel Memon said the PPP’s policy regarding provinces was clear and conducting surveys on the streets could not be considered a substitute for public opinion.
Meanwhile, Sindh government spokesperson Sadia Javed had strongly reacted to Mustafa Kamal’s calls for devolution. She said he himself was serving in a ministry that was fundamentally a provincial matter and those calling for devolution should first look at their own ministry.
