ISLAMABAD: The aunt of a rescued infant has disputed the PIMS administration’s claim regarding the rescue, stating that she herself saved her niece’s life during the fire, ARY News reported.
The aunt, Riffat Kareem, stated that when the fire erupted in the ICU of the gynecology ward at PIMS, a doctor on duty fled the room as soon as the blaze broke out.
She further shared that her niece was born just yesterday.
Riffat Kareem claimed that all paramedical staff on duty ran away after the fire started in the ward, leaving the infants unattended.
The woman added that she subsequently transferred the newborn to Polyclinic Hospital, another public health facility in the capital, as the infant required continued intensive care.
