A court in Karachi has granted interim bail to a man accused of assaulting a young man, Ali Jafri, in the Defence area of the city.
The suspect, identified as Irtiza Alvi, appeared before an Additional Sessions Judge in Karachi South after being named in connection with the assault on Ali Jafri.
The court granted Irtiza Alvi interim bail until 9 September 2026, and ordered him to appear at every hearing. He was also directed to join the investigation and cooperate with the authorities.
The court has sought police case papers and issued notices to the prosecution and the complainant.
Victim Ali Jafri had reportedly named several people, including Ibrahim Malik, Ibrahim and Ali Faisal, as well as unidentified suspects, in connection with the incident.
A video allegedly showing the assault on Ali Jafri in Defence was widely shared on social media on the previous day. Police took notice of the incident and ordered the arrest of those involved.
Ali Jafri later went to a police station to register a case. Police subsequently arrested one suspect and presented him before a court, which remanded him in police custody for further investigation.
