MALAKAND: Two Levies personnel were injured after guards of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Shakeel Khan allegedly opened fire on Levies personnel in Malakand, government sources told ARY News.

Videos have also surfaced showing the guards allegedly firing at the Levies personnel in the presence of Shakeel Khan, according to government sources.

The firing incident has been taken up at a high level, with an FIR registered against Shakeel Khan and others, the sources said.

Legal proceedings, including arrests, have been initiated against those allegedly involved in the incident, according to government sources.

The sources said there would be no leniency or concession in the firing incident involving Levies personnel and that strict action was being taken against those responsible under a zero-tolerance policy.

The incident comes after a statement by PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar regarding the party’s planned protest in Islamabad.

Junaid Akbar had warned that PTI would not approach Islamabad through a single route and said protesters would also enter the federal capital through the motorway and from the Margalla Hills.

Addressing supporters, Junaid Akbar said that during the previous protest, they had considered the state as a mother and did not know that it could open fire on them.

He said they were not in a position to protest during the previous attempt, adding that they picked up the bodies and returned.

“This time, we know that the state will open fire,” Junaid Akbar said.

He said that this time they would not pick up the bodies and remain silent.

“If this happens again, we will pick up the bodies and new people will come,” the PTI leader said.

Junaid Akbar further said, “I make you a witness, we will turn Islamabad into Somnath.”
