Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo on September 9. The new models went on sale a little over a week later, on September 18.
Soon after the launch, some online reports claimed the new devices showed pink and green vertical lines on their screens. But a closer look suggests that some of these reports are not genuine.
A recent post on X shared two videos of a burgundy iPhone 18 Pro. In the first video, a pink vertical line appeared on the screen. The second video showed a thick green line running down the display. Another Reddit post claimed the green line showed up randomly during normal use.

However, some users quickly noticed problems with these videos. In the second video, the green line appeared behind the Wi-Fi icon, which does not happen with real hardware issues. The lines were also much thinner than usual, suggesting the photo was probably edited to get attention on social media.
The video with the pink line seems real, but this issue does not appear to be common. There is also no information about whether that phone was dropped or damaged. So, buyers should not avoid the new models just because of these rare or possibly edited display claims.
There is a different issue that has been confirmed by more users. Some iPhone 18 Pro owners say Face ID is not working properly. Sometimes, Face ID fails when unlocking an app, which can cause the phone to freeze and restart at the lock screen.
Other users have seen a “Face ID not available” error during setup, or found that the “Require Attention for Face ID” feature does not work as it should. Apple will likely fix these bugs in a future software update.
When new smartphones launch, fake accounts often spread false problems to hurt a competitor’s reputation. This happened earlier this year when fans targeted the Galaxy S26 series.
The fake green line images seem to be another attempt to spread false information. However, the Face ID freezing problem is a real issue that some users are facing.
