The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has achieved its tax collection target for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026–27, collecting Rs3.066 trillion between July and September 2026, according to FBR data.

The FBR had set a tax collection target of Rs3.053 trillion for the first quarter, exceeding the target by Rs13 billion.

In September 2026 alone, the FBR collected more than Rs1.344 trillion in taxes against the monthly target of Rs1.343 trillion, surpassing the target by more than Rs1 billion.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 by 15 days to October 15, 2026.

According to a circular issued by the FBR, the deadline has been extended in view of requests received from various trade bodies and tax bar associations.

The extension has been granted under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, the circular said.

The FBR said the extension applies to persons who are required to file their income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 by September 30.
