ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to enforce rules regarding dual citizenship and foreign nationality for civil servants, ARY News reported.
All civil servants have been directed to submit their declarations within a week. The Establishment Division issued an office memorandum to all ministries and divisions, warning that failure to comply with government orders or providing false information will result in departmental action.
According to the memorandum, submitting a false declaration will be treated as misconduct, and non-compliant officers will face proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
The government has also hinted at legal action against non-compliant officials.
Under the directive, civil servants must declare details regarding foreign citizenship, dual nationality, foreign spouses, and dependents.
It was revealed that several officers belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), and Secretariat Group have yet to submit their declarations.
These officers have been given a final one-week deadline, after which disciplinary measures will be initiated.
Instructions have also been issued to provincial Chief Secretaries and Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) to enforce these measures.
A copy of the directive has been forwarded to the Secretary to the President.
