Opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has ruled out the chance of negotiations with the government without meeting the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, and said that meaningful negotiations with the government cannot take place unless the opposition is allowed to meet Imran Khan.
Achakzai said that if the government genuinely wanted to resolve the country’s political problems, it would have to facilitate a meeting with the PTI founder.
He said the opposition would convey whatever position Imran Khan put forward and that negotiations should continue until the outstanding political issues were resolved.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai also rejected the possibility of imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He said the opposition would not accept such a move and would resist it if governor’s rule was imposed in the province.
Speaking in Zhob, he also said that his party did not recognize the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Achakzai also spoke about the appointment of the chief election commissioner and other members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He said the appointments should be made strictly according to the procedure laid down in the Constitution.
Achakzai said he would not meet the prime minister or the speaker in their respective offices over the appointments.
However, he said he was prepared to discuss the matter at the residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Nawaz Sharif in Murree.
