KARACHI: Police have registered a case against Azad Jakhrani, brother of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Aijaz Jakhrani, over the alleged recovery of narcotics from his bungalow in Karachi, ARY News reported.
According to police, the case was registered at Darakhshan Police Station on behalf of the state and includes four serious provisions of anti-narcotics laws.
Police said a suspicious motorcyclist was stopped near the Clock Tower during routine patrolling. A search allegedly led to the recovery of 18 boxes of cocaine and 41 packets of ice (crystal methamphetamine) wrapped in a plastic bag.
The recovered cocaine weighed 62 grammes, while the ice weighed 106 grammes, police said.
During interrogation, the arrested suspect allegedly told police that the narcotics belonged to Azad Jakhrani. He also claimed that Jakhrani operated a drug business from his bungalow and that the drugs supplied by him had been collected from the property.
Based on the suspect’s statement, a police team took him to Jakhrani’s bungalow in Khayaban-e-Seher, where he allegedly identified a wooden cupboard containing more narcotics.
