The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) in Kuwait says it received 621 reports of fraud and scams during the third quarter of the year.

The reports included 276 cases involving websites, 163 through social media, 104 via phone calls, 76 through WhatsApp and two through text messages.

CITRA urged the public to report suspicious messages, links and calls, and warned against sharing personal information with untrusted parties.

Separately, CITRA said a team from its Field Monitoring Department visited the Rohde & Schwarz manufacturing facility in Germany from 19 to 21 October.

The visit, which included representatives from Future Integrated Technology for Telecommunications Equipment Company, was part of a project to develop an automated system for monitoring and analyzing the radio frequency spectrum.

During the visit, the team inspected mobile wireless monitoring stations, assessed their technical equipment, and checked that the systems met approved specifications and requirements before shipment to Kuwait.

The project aims to establish a system for monitoring and analyzing the frequency spectrum and enhance oversight of frequency usage across the country.
