High Court rejects plea to suspend detention notifications
The Lahore High Court had rejected a request for the immediate suspension of the detention notifications for Dr Uzma Khanum and Noreen Niazi, the sisters of the PTI founder.
Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard the petitions, while Rana Mudassar Umar appeared on behalf of the petitioners and requested the court to suspend the detention notifications.
The lawyer argued that both women were homemakers and that Dr Uzma Khanum had already been declared innocent in the case.
He also informed the court that a copy of the trial court’s decision had been attached to the petition.
The court rejected the request for immediate suspension of the detention notifications and observed that reports would first be sought from the relevant parties.
The court issued notices to the respondents and sought their replies. It said a decision on suspending the detention notifications would be made after hearing their positions.
