Further proceedings will be carried out based on the findings of the investigation.

Nurse Razia Noreen has received widespread recognition for her extraordinary courage during a recent fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), after she risked her own life to rescue a newborn from a burning room.

In an interview published by The Washington Post, Razia Noreen said she entered the fire-hit room with the sole objective of saving the babies and managed to bring a newborn to safety in just eight seconds.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Noreen said that when she entered the burning room, she was not thinking about her own safety. Her only concern was to save the children trapped inside.

“I did not think about becoming a hero; I simply performed my duty as a nurse and as a mother,” she said, according to the report.

Razia Noreen said her sole objective while entering the smoke-filled, burning room was to ensure that the babies survived the incident. Her decision to put herself at risk has since drawn praise from people across different sections of Pakistani society.
