KARACHI: Abdullah Bhardey, a business vendor of deceased entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali, appeared before the judicial commission on Thursday and recorded his statement.
During the proceedings, Bhardey said Wafflix was his brother Ahmed’s business and that he supplied chocolates to the company.
The commission questioned Bhardey about his visits to Mir Raza’s home and whether he found it unusual to search the deceased’s room.
Bhardey said he had gone to the room after seeking permission from Mir Raza’s mother and that his mother and sister were also present. “I went into the room, but I did not search it,” he said.
He told the commission that he had last spoken to Mir Raza at around 2:30am on July 28.
The commission asked whether Mir Raza owed him money.
Bhardey said Mir Raza was supposed to pay him Rs750,000.
When the commission questioned why a vendor would be owed such an amount, Bhardey said Mir Raza had taken Rs750,000 from him for crypto trading.

The commission also questioned Bhardey about asking the family to pay Rs22,000.
Mir Raza’s mother told the commission that the family had no information about the payment and that they came to know about its amount after Bhardey informed them.
Bhardey said he was deeply concerned about Mir Raza and considered him like a brother.
“After the family, if anyone was concerned, it was us,” Bhardey said.
The commission questioned this statement, saying, “Do not say this. You people were asking for money at every step.”
Bhardey said Mir Raza had also suddenly gone missing the previous year.
Mir Raza’s mother told the commission that Bhardey was Mir Raza’s financial adviser and that he had never told the family anything.
Lawyer Jibran Nasir said Bhardey’s phone remained switched off for two and a half hours after he spoke to Mir Raza.
Bhardey said he used his phone extensively during the daytime.
He also told the commission that he had been kept in custody for 36 hours.
The judicial commission summoned Gulistan-e-Jauhar SHO Kamran Qureshi and Head Muharrir Zeeshan to appear at the next hearing.
The commission adjourned the proceedings until September 7.
