‘The Kingdom stands with its sovereign interests and capabilities,’ said foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan when questioned on latest developments regarding the Houthi onslaught, who additionally pledged every effort to defend Saudi territory against the aggressor forces.
Standing beside Russian FM Sergey Lavrov during a co-conference in Moscow, the foreign minister outlined the importance to defend the Kingdom above all else, and warned that by unleashing constant aggression upon border infrastructure and homes, the Houthi militia has begun a harmful “Pandora’s box”.
Prince Faisal said that diplomacy for a peacefully concluding operation is still very much an option and has only been stalled through the persistent decision of the militant group to return to force whenever cornered instead of addressing the immediate concerns facing the Yemeni people.
While speaking during the diplomatic meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that assaults against civilian infrastructure are alarming, as it may cost the lives of innocent civilians and destabilize economies globally.
Lavrov also announced support for Saudi mediation efforts to broker long term stability in Yemen, whilst demanding fulfillment of international agreements on other regional points of tension.
The Saudi FM then went on to speak to Russian ministers about the crucial nature of their partnership, detailing strong cooperation in the OPEC + alliance in order to provide balance to global oil supply and ensure its stable provision.
Despite the powerful warning the KSA’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan again emphasized the KSA’s continuing support for meaningful solutions to bring lasting peace to Yemen, citing multiple times where an opportunity for sensible dialogue provided by the Yemeni government (recognized by the international community) had already been stonewalled due to actions by warring forces.
