KARACHI: The judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza Ali case has decided to re-record the statement of Dr Osama Sheikh, who conducted the first post-mortem examination of entrepreneur.
The commission has issued a notice summoning Dr Osama to appear before it on Monday. The Director General Health Sindh has also been summoned for Monday’s proceedings.
In addition, the commission has called Ali Shah, Kazim and Umair to appear before it on the same day.
The fresh statements are part of the commission’s ongoing proceedings into the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death and the subsequent investigation.
Dr Osama, who conducted the first post-mortem of Mir Raza Ali, has told the investigation team that Dr Summaiya initially ‘okayed’ the first post-mortem report, sources said.
In early August, Dr Summaiya pointed out discrepancies between the first medico-legal report prepared by Dr Osama and the available photographs. Following this, Ali’s body was exhumed at the request of his family and a second post-mortem examination was conducted.
Dr Summaiya told the judicial commission on Monday that she had faced “threats” after raising questions over the findings of the first post-mortem conducted in the murder case of young businessman Mir Raza Ali.

Dr Osama in his statement said he informed the police surgeon about the procedure on the day it was carried out.
According to sources, Dr Osama presented WhatsApp correspondence to the investigation team showing that he had informed Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya about the post-mortem on the first day.
Dr Osama reportedly disputed the police surgeon’s statement before the investigation team, maintaining that she had been fully informed about the procedure.
Sources said the WhatsApp messages contained details regarding the post-mortem and showed that Dr Summiya Syed had acknowledged the report as “OK”.
“I informed Dr Summaiya from the day of the post-mortem on the 29th,” Dr Osama was quoted as saying. Dr Osama further claimed that Dr Summaiya later signed one of the pages of the first post-mortem report.
He said the police surgeon changed her position one or two days later by declaring the post-mortem report incorrect in statements to the media.
