The MDCAT 2026 entrance exams are being held across Pakistan on Sunday, ARY News reported.
According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) a total of 138,158 candidates registered across five universities in the country are taking part in the exams.
According to the Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, 34,235 candidates have registered for the test through the university. A total of nine examination centres have been established in eight cities.
Examination centres have been established in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Larkana, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas, while centres have also been set up in Shaheed Benazirabad and Islamabad, officials said.
Professor Asif Ahmed Sheikh said that two examination centres have been established in Karachi. The test will be conducted at NED University and the Ojha Campus of Dow University.
More than 34,000 students across Sindh are appearing for the examination, Professor Asif Ahmed Sheikh said.
In Karachi, around 6,000 candidates are appearing at NED University, while 4,964 candidates are taking the test at Dow University’s Ojha Campus. Overall, 10,964 candidates are expected to sit the examination in Karachi.
The test began at 10:00 a.m., while candidates were instructed to report to the examination centres by 6:30 a.m., according to Asif Ahmed Sheikh.
Strict security measures have been put in place.

Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination centre before the test concludes. All candidates would be required to remain seated until the end of the examination, according to the Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University.
Candidates have been prohibited from bringing mobile phones and other digital devices into the examination centres.
Professor Asif Ahmed Sheikh said that authorities would ensure that the examination paper is not leaked, adding that he had made the same commitment previously and was reiterating it for this year’s examination.
Separate waiting areas are established for parents at all examination centres, SIBA Testing Services said.
Candidates would be provided with the necessary stationery and clean drinking water inside the examination halls.
The PMDC said necessary arrangements would also be made at examination centres for candidates and their accompanying parents or guardians.
