Bahrain’s Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace has arrested a 19-year-old man accused of luring and blackmailing a 14-year-old girl through a social media platform, the Interior Ministry said.
The suspect was identified and arrested following an investigation by the Child Protection Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security.
The ministry said legal procedures had been initiated to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
Bahrain Authorities have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely monitor children’s online activities, particularly their interactions with strangers on social media.
The Child Protection Unit also stressed the need to educate children about the risks of sharing photographs and personal information with unknown individuals, warning that online offenders may use deceptive or manipulative tactics to gain their trust.
The authorities urged members of the public to report any suspicious communications or attempts to lure children online.
