Pakistan’s Noor Zaman put up a commanding display as he beat countryman Mohammad Ashab Irfan 3-0 in the men’s squash singles third-place classification match of the 2026 Asian Games at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena in Japan on Saturday.
Zaman achieved third position in the event with game scores of 11-7, 11-7, and 13-11 when the all-Pakistan game finished in 26 minutes.
Zaman asserted his dominance of the playoff from the beginning by keeping the pace and the rallies under his control:
First Game (8 Minutes) Zaman got the initial edge to give a good start.
Second Game (6 minutes) Zaman superbly finished the second game with another 11-7 victory.
Third Game: Irfan almost came back fighting and took the third game to deuce where Zaman again managed to prove his resolve to win the game 13-11.
Both Pakistani squash players qualified for the third-place playoff after their semi-final opponents defeated both of them in their semi-final matches, and therefore had already secured a bronze medal finish according to tournament rules:
Noor Zaman: Semi-final loss, 3-0 (12-10, 11-4, 11-4), to a Malaysian Wang duo; Eain Yow Ng, Fashah, the defending champion.
Mohammad Ashab Irfan: Qualified for semi-final stage with a win over India’s Veer Chotrani before losing his last-four match 3-0 against India’s Abhay Singh.
