The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) says it has arrested 13 suspected militants, including a dangerous Indian agent, during 98 intelligence-based (IBO) operations across Punjab.
According to the CTD, one of those arrested, identified as Wajid, was allegedly working for India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) intelligence agency. He was detained in Pakpattan district.
Officials said explosives, hand grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), detonators and fuse wire were also recovered from the suspects.
The CTD said 13 cases had been registered against the arrested suspects and that further investigations were under way.
The department also said it had carried out 1,595 combing operations across Punjab during the week as part of efforts to maintain law and order.
According to the CTD, over 55,000 people were checked during those operations, while 52 people were detained on suspicion.
