Mohsin Naqvi Says KP Govt Backtracked on Security Commitment

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of backtracking on its commitments during the final phase of talks last night.

The Interior Minister stated that KP is facing a “war-like situation” and urged political parties not to politicize the province’s security crisis.

Mohsin Naqvi outlined the consensus points previously agreed upon by the KP government, which included ensuring full implementation of the National Action Plan.

He said the KP leadership had agreed to sign a written consensus document and submit a formal implementation roadmap within 72 hours.

According to Naqvi, key commitments agreed upon during the talks included:

Reconsidering the proposed Police Act 2026 in light of the province’s security situation.

Preventing terrorists from establishing safe havens or operating freely across KP.

Explicitly and jointly condemning the TTP, TTA, and all terrorist organizations.

Phasing out the Afghan refugee policy, closing refugee camps in KP, and avoiding direct contact with the Afghan interim government.

Fully funding and supporting police operations against terrorism, with the KP government taking ownership of counter-terrorism measures.

Extending full cooperation to the Pakistan Army in counter-terrorism efforts.Implementing counter-terrorism decisions across the merged tribal districts (formerly FATA).
