PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said the long march participants will not cross Attock and will instead camp in Swabi, ARY News reported.

Speaking on the programme ‘On My Radar’, Kundi said, “They know what will happen if they take even one step outside the province.”

He said the long march would produce no result, adding that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is such that the former chief minister himself cannot move around at night.

Kundi said the people leading the march could not stand against terrorists and never attend the funerals of soldiers.

Responding to a question, he said reports suggested that the march participants would stay in Peshawar today and then move towards Khyber.

“I knew from the first day that the negotiations would fail,” Kundi said.

He said that after everything had been finalised, the opposition committee said the chief minister was not agreeing. Kundi added that during his meeting with Mohsin Naqvi, they discussed the long march, law and order situation and negotiations.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar said there are no differences within the party and all members are coming together for the sit-in.

Addressing a news conference, Barrister Gohar said he was surprised that PTI’s MNAs and MPAs were going missing despite the party having a government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“Our MNAs and MPAs have been made to go missing. Even now, we say to come to your senses,” he said.

Barrister Gohar thanked Jamaat-e-Islami and Awami National Party for raising their voice against illegal actions. He said he would soon meet ANP leader Aimal Wali Khan.

“We are political people and our doors are always open for negotiations,” he said.

Barrister Gohar said the government still had time to arrange a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan the next day, after which negotiations could move forward. He said the deadlock in talks was due to the government’s attitude and that the government had not shown flexibility.

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had no role in the deadlock in negotiations. Barrister Gohar said that if a meeting with Imran Khan was arranged the next day, the party would move forward.
