Adelaide Strikers are likely to sign Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf for the Big Bash League (BBL) 16.
According to a report in the Herald Sun, Haris could join the Strikers after representing Melbourne Stars for five seasons.
Overall, Haris played 33 matches for Stars and picked up 56 wickets at an impressive average of 16.48, including a hat-trick. He enjoyed an impressive BBL 15 season, scalping 20 wickets and becoming one of 10 players to take a BBL hat-trick.
Rauf is understood to be closing in on a new Big Bash League deal after five seasons with Melbourne Stars.
The 32-year-old played 33 matches in green, collecting 20 wickets in his last season and standing as one of just 10 players to take a BBL hat-trick.
The Strikers have already signed former England all-rounder Ben Stokes and New Zealand’s middle-order batter Mark Chapman.
Meanwhile, New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner has opted to remain on a central contract with New Zealand despite receiving a lucrative offer.
The full schedule for the Big Bash League (BBL) 16 has also been announced with the season opener set to be held in India for the first time.
As per the schedule, the tournament will return on Christmas Eve for the first time in four years, while the final will be held on Australia Day, marking the first BBL decider on the public holiday in two years after previous scheduling changes due to cultural sensitivities.
The 44-match competition will conclude the regular season with back-to-back double-headers on January 16 and 17 before the four-team finals series begins with the Qualifier on January 19. The championship match will be held on January 26, with a reserve day in place if required.
The schedule was designed to avoid a clash with the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur, while also making use of the Australia Day public holiday.
Meanwhile, Australia Test players are likely to miss the final stages of the tournament as they prepare for the tour of India after the conclusion of the Trans-Tasman Trophy against New Zealand.
