ISLAMABAD: The opposition alliance has formed separate committees to organise an All Parties Conference (APC) and develop consensus between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Mahmood Khan Achakzai said on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media after a meeting of opposition leaders with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman in Islamabad, Achakzai said a committee had been formed to make arrangements for the APC, which would be held this month.

He said another committee had been formed to develop consensus between PTI and JUI-F. The two parties would sit together to discuss their differences, he added.

Achakzai said the opposition leaders had met Maulana Fazal ur Rehman to express solidarity with him, alleging that a campaign was being carried out to malign the JUI-F chief.

He further said opposition parties had established an alliance across Pakistan and would put up joint resistance.

Meanwhile, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was an attack on the public mandate.

He said an emergency had been imposed in the province and the people had been told that their mandate was not being recognised.

Raja Nasir Abbas said government ministers had also acknowledged that the system had failed. He alleged that the sanctity of homes was being violated and said the opposition was ready to work towards resolving the country’s problems.

He said the final date for the APC would be decided by the committee after consultations. Khalid Chaudhry and Hussain Yousafzai would serve as APC coordinators, he added.

Speaking about the health of PTI founder Imran Khan, Salman Akram Raja expressed concern, saying the government had crossed a red line.

He said Imran Khan’s blood pressure was not returning to normal and had reached 192.

Salman Akram Raja reiterated that PTI and JUI-F leaders would sit together, adding that a committee had been formed to find a solution to their differences.

The opposition meeting was held at Maulana Fazal ur Rehman’s residence in Islamabad. Leaders discussed political unity, the protection of democratic rights, supremacy of the Constitution and law, and a joint strategy to deal with the prevailing political situation
