LAHORE: The Emergency Services Department (ESD) has reported a total of 1,354 road traffic crashes (RTCs) across all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours, resulting in 10 deaths and 1,516 injuries.
According to the official data, 633 victims with serious injuries were shifted to hospitals, while 883 individuals with minor injuries were treated at the accident sites by Rescue Medical Teams, helping reduce pressure on healthcare facilities.
Authorities stated that a majority of the incidents—nearly 70 percent—involved motorcycles, highlighting the urgent need for stricter traffic law enforcement and improved lane discipline to reduce accidents.
The analysis further showed that among the victims were 884 drivers, 70 underage drivers, 173 pedestrians, and 469 passengers.
District-wise, Lahore reported the highest number of incidents with 270 RTCs affecting 313 people, followed by Multan with 89 crashes and 103 victims, and Gujranwala with 89 crashes and 92 victims.
The data also indicates that out of 1,526 total victims, 1,220 were male and 306 were female. Age-wise distribution shows 270 victims under 18 years, 838 between 18 and 40 years, and 418 above 40 years of age.
Vehicle involvement statistics reveal that 1,446 motorcycles, 99 rickshaws, 148 cars, 28 vans, 14 buses, 40 trucks, and 51 other vehicles including carts were part of the reported accidents.
Officials have reiterated the need for strict enforcement of traffic regulations, public awareness, and responsible driving behavior to curb the rising number of road accidents in the province.
