NEW YORK, — Nabil Abu Rudeineh, press secretary for the State of Palestine, said all attempts to sideline Palestine and prevent its people’s voice from reaching the world are bound to fail. Speaking to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Abu Rudeineh said that despite efforts to block President Mahmoud Abbas and his delegation from addressing the UN General Assembly, the Palestinian people’s voice is being heard loudly across every continent.
He recalled that after the United States denied visas to President Abbas and members of the Palestinian delegation, the General Assembly voted 152 to 3 to allow Abbas to address the session via video link — a result he described as tantamount to an “international referendum” reflecting broad global support for the Palestinian cause and a rejection of double standards.
Abu Rudeineh said the Palestinian leadership, under President Abbas, will continue its political, diplomatic and legal struggle for full statehood within 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. In his video address, Abbas described Israeli policies as an existential threat to Palestinians and warned the international community against allowing another “Nakba.”
