NEW YORK,— Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The Prime Minister warmly welcomed Prince Rahim, recalling their earlier meeting during the Aga Khan’s visit to Pakistan earlier this year.
PM Sharif praised Prince Rahim’s commitment to strengthening the long-standing friendly ties between Pakistan and the Ismaili community, and reaffirmed his resolve to continue close cooperation toward shared goals of peace, stability and development. He acknowledged the Ismaili community’s contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic progress and highlighted the work of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in financial inclusion, tourism promotion, cultural heritage preservation, and community-led economic empowerment, calling for deeper collaboration in these areas.
Prince Rahim thanked the Prime Minister for his warm remarks and commended his efforts toward regional peace and stability at a time when the wider region remains gripped by conflict. He reaffirmed AKDN’s commitment to deepening its longstanding partnership with Pakistan and expressed a desire to expand cooperation in human development — particularly health, education, climate resilience, and sustainable socio-economic growth.
The Prime Minister invited Prince Rahim to visit Pakistan regularly to further strengthen decades of friendship and cooperation.
