LAHORE: Punjab has completed the construction of 772 roads within two months under the Chief Minister Punjab Local Road Programme, officials said during a high-level review meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Communications and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth.
The meeting was attended by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries, while Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Executive Engineers (XENs) from various districts participated through video link.
During the briefing, the minister was informed that a total of 1,530 roads are being constructed across the province under the Chief Minister Punjab Local Road Programme. Of these, 772 roads have already been completed, while field formations have been assigned a target to complete an additional 182 roads by June 17.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of work, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth commended the performance of field formations and directed all departments concerned to ensure the completion of the targeted 182 roads within the stipulated timeframe.
“The road construction work in Punjab is progressing at a record pace, and the province is leading in the execution of road infrastructure projects,” the minister said.
He added that all projects under the Chief Minister’s Local Road Programme are being completed according to schedule and that strict quality control measures are being implemented throughout the construction process.
The minister emphasized that dedicated monitoring teams are regularly inspecting projects to ensure that construction standards are maintained and that the roads meet the required quality benchmarks.
