MUZAFFARABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday announced the successful candidates for the seven special seats of the AJK Legislative Assembly, ARY News reported, citing the Election Commission secretary.
According to the secretary, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured three women’s seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) bagged two women’s seats.
Additionally, PML-N’s Barrister Iftikhar was victorious on the seat reserved for technocrats.
Furthermore, Syed Mazhar Shah won the special seat reserved for the Ulema and Mashaikh Council.
The PML-N had already won the overseas-reserved seat uncontested.
According to the details, PML-N women candidates Maryam Zaman, Maryam Idrees, and Sehrish Qamar each received seven votes.
Meanwhile, PML-N’s Iftikhar Gillani and Mazhar Syed secured 26 votes each for the technocrat and Ulema-Mashaikh seats, respectively.
PPP’s Farzana Yaqoob was declared the winner after receiving seven votes. A tie occurred between Riffat Abid and Zobia Khursheed, according to the Election Commission secretary.
Zobia Khursheed secured the victory through a draw, the secretary added.
