JATOI: An intense erosion by the Indus River waters developed breach in Zameendara flood protection bund Rescue 1122 officials said on Tuesday.
The floodwater entered into the old route of the river disrupting land link of dozens of rural settlements. “The river water affected Basti Gopang, Allah Bux, Massuwala, Basti Jamal, Manzoor Mastoi and other villages.
Local administration, Rescue 1122 and other relief agencies have been engaged in relief operations in the affected region.
Deputy Commissioner Muzaffargarh has said that the floodwater released from the breach has been diverted to the Indus River. “Rescue points have been set up in affected region and the situation being monitored,” the district official added.
Earlier, Rescue officials said that their teams launched an emergency operation after the breach adding that seven rescue boats equipped with necessary rescue gear were sent to the affected areas. Rescue officials said teams remained engaged in the operation to protect lives and evacuate people from vulnerable areas.
