RAWALPINDI, August 28, 2026: Jamaat-e-Islami has been granted permission to hold a rally inside Liaquat Bagh after matters between the party and the district administration were settled, ARY News reported.

Following the agreement, the administration has unlocked the gates of Liaquat Bagh. Jamaat-e-Islami has started preparations for the rally at the venue.

The party had earlier announced a sit-in after it was not initially allowed to hold the rally inside Liaquat Bagh.

Speaking in Lahore earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman had said permission was not being granted for the rally at Liaquat Bagh, but people were ready to break the locks and enter the venue.

He had warned that if permission was not granted, sit-ins would be launched in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman had also criticised the government, saying it was taking decisions against the interests of the public. He said taxes were being imposed on poor people while those who should be paying taxes were not being taxed.

He questioned why the government was not reducing its own expenses and why it could not use smaller-engine vehicles instead of 1,300cc cars.
