ISLAMABAD, August 30, 2026: Delegations of important political figures from South Punjab met Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan and praised him for continuously raising his voice for the creation of new provinces, ARY News reported.

The delegations expressed support for Aleem Khan’s stance on the creation of new provinces and said they stood with him on the issue.

Speaking during the meetings, Aleem Khan said the campaign for new provinces would be intensified and the party would approach like-minded people for consultation.

He announced that he would soon visit Multan and Bahawalpur, followed by a visit to Hazara. He also announced plans to establish the IPP’s central office in Multan for South Punjab and expand political activities in the region.

Aleem Khan said the demand for new provinces had already gained public support and it was time to turn the slogan of “new provinces, new system” into reality.

He said the flaws in the existing system could not be removed without creating smaller administrative units. According to him, people’s problems could only be properly addressed by bringing administration closer to them.

“People’s problems have to be solved, so new provinces will have to be created at all costs,” Aleem Khan said.

He said the PIMS tragedy had also shown that the existing system was not working properly. He added that circumstances would not change until people themselves prepared for change.

Aleem Khan said several leaders had raised the slogan of a South Punjab province in the past but failed to take practical steps. He said those who talk about new provinces before elections remain silent for four and a half years afterwards.

The delegations congratulated Aleem Khan on the formation of the government in Gilgit-Baltistan and reiterated their support for his position on new provinces.

Aleem Khan said he had taken up the cause of new provinces in the national interest and would continue raising the issue at every forum.
