ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.
The agreement was signed by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Saudi Arabia’s National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) Governor Engineer Majed Al-Mazyed, according to a news release issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.
The MoU aims to protect the cyberspace and vital interests of both countries while facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge to address emerging cyber threats.
The agreement is expected to further strengthen bilateral and international cooperation in cybersecurity and enhance both countries’ capacity to respond to evolving digital threats.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agricultural exports
Earlier, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to increase Pakistan’s agricultural and food exports to Saudi Arabia to $3 billion over the next two years, ARY News reported.
The agreement followed talks held in Islamabad from August 26 to 28. The Pakistani delegation was led by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, while the Saudi delegation was headed by Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Engineer Abdulrahman A. AlFadley.

The Saudi delegation’s visit took place at the special request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met the Saudi delegation and discussed potential areas of cooperation in agriculture and food security.
Strengthening strategic ties
Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations have also deepened in the defence and security sectors.
The Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA), a security and defence pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, was signed on September 17, 2025. Turkey later joined the framework on August 7, 2026, under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement.
The latest cybersecurity and economic initiatives add to the growing cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia across security, technology, agriculture and food security.
