KARACHI: A case has been registered against police officers and other individuals in Karachi over allegations of fraud, misuse of authority and an attempt to allegedly implicate a citizen in a false case to extort money.
According to the FIR, a purported site inspection report was allegedly prepared to implicate the citizen in a criminal case. Investigators also alleged that fake documents and false witnesses were arranged to strengthen the case.
The FIR further states that Rs100,000 was allegedly transferred into the citizen’s bank account, which was subsequently sought to be used as evidence against him.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said its investigation uncovered alleged forgery and manipulation of official records during the police inquiry.

Details regarding the alleged involvement of police officers have also been included in the FIR.
Two former Station House Officers (SHOs) of Shah Latif Police Station, along with an investigation officer, have been nominated in the case.
The allegations are subject to investigation, and the accused will have the right to due process under the law.
