KARACHI: A judicial commission constituted by the Sindh High Court to inquire into Mir Raza Ali case recorded the statement of his friend Muhammad Haitham on Monday, ARY News reported.
As per details, family members of Mir Raza Ali, along with his friends Haitham and Raziq, appeared before the commission. SHO Ferozabad Adil Afzal, former SHO Kamran Qureshi and the head moharrir also appeared before the panel.
The commission summoned Haitham to record his statement and questioned him about his association with Mir Raza and his last contact with him.
Responding to a question about his profession, Haitham said he worked in IT sales at a software house. He told the commission that he had known Mir Raza since 2014 and last met him on July 27, when their friend Ali Abbas was also present.
Haitham said his last conversation with Mir Raza took place through a video call at around 1am on July 28.
“Mir Raza was sitting in a car with our friend Raziq. He appeared to be in a good mood,” Haitham told the commission. The commission then asked Haitham how he learned that Mir Raza was missing.
Haitham said Mir Raza’s fiancée called him at around 4am on July 28 and asked about his whereabouts.
He said he told her that he had spoken to Raziq and advised her not to worry. Mir Raza A;o ’s friend Haitham told the judicial commission that he was unaware of who had suggested searching Mir Raza’s room.
During the proceedings, the commission questioned Haitham about Mir Raza’s last known phone location and whether he had shared the information with the family.
Haitham told the commission that the location of Mir Raza’s last call had been traced to the Asia Pacific Trade Centre.
Justice Umar Sial questioned Haitham about how he obtained the location of the last phone call. Responding to the question, Haitham said he obtained the information through his friend Hamza.
The commission also sought details from Haitham regarding the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s last communication and the subsequent efforts to trace his whereabouts.
