The Sindh Assembly has approved an amendment to the provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance, easing penalties on unregistered vehicles kept at car showrooms.
Sindh Law Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar tabled the bill in the assembly. Mukeash Kumar Chawla said the amendment was aimed at addressing concerns of car dealers.
Under the existing rules, vehicles that were not registered within a month could be subject to a fine.
The amendment means that vehicles kept at showrooms will not attract registration-related fines for up to six months.
However, Mukesh Chawla said penalties could apply once a vehicle was brought onto the road.
Later, the provincial assembly also formed a 12-member special committee to consider amendments to the Sindh Local Government Act 2013.
The committee will discuss the proposed changes and present its recommendations within a week.
The assembly session was adjourned until 3 PM on Friday.
