The federal government says it has disbursed Rs51.13 billion under its flagship affordable housing program, Apna Ghar Program, Ghar Ho To Apna, as it seeks to turn approved loans into actual home purchases and construction.
Finance Minister’s Adviser Khurram Schehzad shared the figures on X on Friday.
As of 4 September, financing worth Rs.351.3 billion had been approved for 60,349 applications under Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Program, also known as Ghar Ho To Apna. Of those approvals, Rs.51.13 billion has been released through 9,717 loans.
The program has an approval rate of 38.5 percent, with the average loan standing at about Rs.5.26 million.
Approved financing rose by Rs.38.3 billion, up over 12 percent in one week, according to the latest government figures.
However, the gap between approved and disbursed financing remains significant. Only about Rs.51 billion of the Rs.351 billion approved so far has reached borrowers.
The government says its immediate priority is to speed up disbursements and ensure that approved loans translate into home purchases, construction and house completion.
Under the program, eligible Pakistani families can obtain financing to buy, build or complete a house. The financing limit is up to Rs. 10 million, with repayment available for up to 20 years.
The scheme offers a fixed interest rate of 5 percent for the first 10 years.
