The Punjab Home Department has approved an amendment to its agreement with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), allowing citizens to obtain verifiable digital credentials for their arms licences.
Under the revised agreement, which has been extended until 31 December 2026, licence holders will be able to obtain digital versions of their Punjab arms licences through the Pak ID Wallet.
The agreement covers the period from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2026.
Official documents show that provisions relating to single sign-on authentication and shared logins have been removed from the revised agreement.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) had recommended dropping the single sign-on provision from the amended draft. The agreement was subsequently approved following a legal review.
The new system will issue verifiable digital credentials linked to Punjab arms licences, allowing holders to prove the validity of their licences electronically.
Officials say the move is intended to make licence verification faster, easier and more secure. The digital credentials will also make it easier for licence holders to verify and prove the status of their licences when required.
