The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to introduce central contracts for national Under-19 players for the first time, rewarding the young cricketers following their impressive performances on the tour of England.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the development during his meeting with the Pakistan U19 squad, which recently secured a 3-1 victory in a four-match one-day series against England.
Naqvi met the players individually and appreciated their efforts during the England tour, while urging them to maintain their hard work and continue developing as they progress towards senior-level cricket.
Pakistan U19 head coach Shahid Anwar welcomed the PCB’s decision, saying the introduction of central contracts at junior level would provide additional motivation to the country’s emerging cricketers.
“Rewarding good performances boosts the confidence of young players, while the encouragement from the PCB chairman is a source of strength for both the players and coaching staff,” Shahid said.

Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousuf also highlighted the impact of the development camps held in Multan, saying the programmes conducted over the last two years had played an important role in the team’s progress.
Farhan said the players had benefited considerably from the camps and added that the opportunity to meet the PCB chairman was encouraging for the squad.
The Pakistan U19 skipper further expressed his happiness over the introduction of central contracts, describing the first-ever contracts at junior level as a significant development for the young players.
