PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur held a detailed discussion on party and political matters, sources told ARY News.
According to sources, Sohail Afridi briefed Ali Amin Gandapur on the current situation.
The two leaders discussed the federal government’s indication of imposing emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sources said they also discussed the possibility of a decision by the Federal Constitutional Court under which Ali Amin Gandapur could become chief minister.
The leaders discussed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government could survive if the name of the long march was not mentioned, sources said.
According to sources, Ali Amin Gandapur indicated that he would give priority to party interests over the government.
Sources said that if the situation reached a deadlock, the possibility of dissolving the provincial assembly with the permission of the parliamentary party could be considered.
Sohail Afridi said that he could dissolve the assembly if the parliamentary party gave permission, sources said.
The meeting also included discussion about not consulting PTI founder Imran Khan over the matter of dissolving the assembly, according to sources.
Sources said Imran Khan had expressed strong displeasure with Sohail Afridi and had also criticised key party office-bearers by name.
The displeasure was expressed in the presence of Bushra Bibi, a senator and Imran Khan’s sisters, sources said.
The issue of Imran Khan’s displeasure was also discussed during the meeting between Sohail Afridi and Ali Amin Gandapur, sources added.
