The Peshawar High Court’s Abbottabad Bench has granted bail to three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of four-year-old Ayat Noor in Haripur.
Police had arrested the suspects, identified as Usman, Qasim and Talha, in connection with the case.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the murder. The team examined the case from several angles as part of its investigation.
The court granted bail to the three suspects after investigators failed to find sufficient evidence linking them to the killing.
It should be noted that the body of 5-year-old Ayat Noor, who went missing from Pathan Colony in Haripur, was recovered after 15 days from a well in a warehouse located on University Road.
On the day of the incident, Ayat Noor had left her home to play but did not return. On the complaint of the girl’s father, the police registered a case of kidnapping.
During the investigation, with the help of CCTV footage, five suspects allegedly involved in Ayat Noor’s abduction were identified, three of whom have been arrested.
The parents of five-year-old Ayat Noor have welcomed another baby girl just days after the heart-wrenching incident. The couple honored their late daughter’s memory by giving the newborn the same name.
Political activist Irum Fatima Turk shared photographs of the newborn and her family on social media, announcing that Ayat Noor’s parents, Shafiq and his wife, had been blessed with another daughter.
“Ayat Noor is back,” Turk wrote, adding that the couple had chosen to name their newborn daughter Ayat Noor.
In her post, Turk offered prayers for the baby’s future and expressed hope that she would grow up in a safer Pakistan where children are protected and treated with dignity.
“May this Ayat Noor grow up safe, and may justice be delivered for the Ayat Noor we lost,” she wrote.
