Government and opposition reach agreement on PTI march after talks

Talks 1

The talks between the government and opposition were successful as both parties have reached an agreement following negotiations in Islamabad.

A joint draft of the agreement is being prepared, while a joint statement is also expected to be issued shortly. A briefing on the outcome of the talks is expected later.

The agreement follows the second round of negotiations, during which the two sides reviewed their respective demands.

The talks were marked by disagreements over several issues, with tensions rising at times. However, the negotiations continued in what sources described as a generally constructive atmosphere.

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq played a role in keeping both sides at the negotiating table. His interventions helped prevent the talks from breaking down, according to the sources.

The speaker also heard the concerns of both sides and encouraged them to continue the dialogue.

Neither side was allowed to walk out of the negotiations despite disagreements over some of the issues under discussion.

The two sides have also expressed a commitment to continuing negotiations through their respective committees in the future.
