PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday sought a response from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over alleged use of government resources for the ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice SM Attiq Shah heard the petition filed by PML-N MPA Qari Zahir.
The petitioner contended that the PHC had barred the use of government resources for political activities in a judgment issued in November 2025.
He alleged that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi travelled to Lakki Marwat in a government helicopter on October 4 to participate in the launch of the protest march.
The petitioner urged the court to take notice of the alleged use of official resources during the march and seek explanations from those responsible.
The court issued a notice to the chief minister and sought his response to the allegations. Further proceedings will be carried out after the response is submitted.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that the use of government resources for political activities amounted to a violation of court orders.
The petition also referred to an incident in October 2024, alleging that more than 10 government vehicles and 47 officials were taken into custody by Punjab Police during a protest march towards Islamabad during the tenure of former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The court adjourned the hearing after issuing notice to the chief minister.
